Bed bug Hunting Dogs?
It turns out that dogs, with the right kind of consistent training, are not only good at hunting animals, providing excellent companionship, sniffing out drugs or bombs, or as service dogs. With their incredibly keen sense of smell, these talented dogs can also accurately sniff out dreaded bed bugs -- even quicker than a regular technician! We're not the only ones to notice this little fact-- carefully and highly trained dogs are well known to be the most effective method of detecting bed bugs in the industry.

Bed bugs are notoriously hard to actually locate, even when you realize you have them. That's why it's so important that dogs can find the bugs humans miss -- a crevice that an ordinary technician might dismiss may be crawling with bed bugs, and you can bet our dogs will pick up on that instantly.
Not only that, they work fast. It can take one of our dogs less than two minutes to search an average-size room (such as a hotel room), and they work their way through larger areas and entire buildings quickly. This is not only quicker than your average human technician, less time also equals less cost versus other methods. Our dogs can also pin down the location of the bed bugs with least 95% accuracy.
We train our dogs constantly -- even the veteran hunters keep their noses sharp and work hard daily.
I don't want my neighbors/customers to know I have bed bugs!
Worried about losing customers or what your friends or neighbors might think if a big old van shows up advertising "BED BUG DETECTION?" Don't worry, you won't have to deal with that kind of embarrassment (and potential lost sales) here. We drive discreet, unmarked vehicles, with just our handlers and dogs, and are willing to come in at any hour of the day that is convenient for you. We don't make a big fuss and loudly proclaim what we are there to do or if we find something -- we get in, inspect, give you our report, and get out.
Do you have A PARENT pest control company?
Isn't it funny how many hunting dogs provided by a pest control company (or one of their affiliates) seem to find bed bugs when there was no sign of them before? Talk about a conflict of interest! Worry not, we are completely INDEPENDENT of any pest control companies. We provide our findings in a detailed, accurate report for you to pass on to YOUR preferred pest control company.
Do you have experience with training dogs?
Well, owner Sarah Rodeheaver is also the owner of DogZone, a reputable dog daycare that makes the most of each day in terms of training and learning good dog manners. Sarah has over 15 years of experience in dog training and handling, and has made sure that these dogs are trained right.
What breed is Pilot? Tell me about your dogs!
We get these questions a lot, especially with one our very unique-looking dogs! Pilot is a 6 year-old Boykin Spaniel, found mostly in the Carolinas and a natural hunting dog.
I acquired him from the Boykin Spaniel Rescue in Dec. 2012. He was a bit of a project and wasn't a suitable family dog, so when the rescue organization heard I planned to train him as a Bed Bug Detection dog they thought he would be happiest as a working dog. He was a quick learner and has loved his job since day one. Almost all of his issues are now gone due to him having a purpose and being able to work! He lives at home with me and loves to go for his daily run around the property and play in the neighbors pond. Pilot is very social and especially loves children. This can often pose a problem when working because likes to visit people along the way. His ball is his favorite reward but he also likes food as a reward on occasion.
I don't even know if I have bed bugs. Why should I get a k-9 Inspection?
You've all heard of the business down the street or across town that found bed bugs. Or rather, that had a customer find bed bugs. The news spread, and soon everyone knew and avoided the business. Even the rumor of bed bugs, especially without proof of inspections (and treatment if needed), is extremely damaging to a business.
You might've also heard a friend didn't realize he had bed bugs -- until they had completely infested their home. The sheer cost of treating (and treating again and again, because the exterminator couldn't find all the bed bugs the first time) and replacing clothes, furniture, carpeting, and more was daunting enough, to say nothing of the embarrassment of having to let any prior guests know to get checked for bed bugs themselves.
You don't want that to happen to you.
Be proactive. After an inspection from us, you can confidently answer customers and friends alike who may question if bed bugs are a known issue.
Like many illnesses, an infestation is MUCH easier (and cheaper) to treat if it's caught EARLY. Think of the related costs (for example staff prep, putting all booking on hold, the scale of the treatment itself) in arranging for treating one hotel room versus an entire multi-story hotel. We also provide accurate, detailed paperwork of when and where any bed bugs were found, to pass on to your preferred pest control company right away. The sooner you find out, the more contained the bed bugs are, and the quicker you can get the area treated and return to life as normal.
What if I want you to come in at 3 AM? Or on a weekend?
When we say we will perform inspections anytime, we mean ANYTIME. We work early, late, or on weekends if that's what works for you. Customer service is our priority!
